Day 1: Kigali City Experience & Transfer to Akagera

Begin your morning with a guided tour of Kigali’s top cultural and historical landmarks. Pay your respects at the Kigali Genocide Memorial, explore the pedestrian-friendly Car-Free Zone, and mingle with locals at Kimironko Market, known for its vibrant colors and crafts.

By late morning, set off for Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s top wildlife destination. En route, enjoy a relaxing break and lunch at the Imigongo Art Center, where you’ll see traditional geometric art made from cow dung—a fascinating local tradition.

Arrive at Akagera in the early evening. After check-in, unwind at your lodge surrounded by nature and prepare for the thrilling days ahead.

Day 2: Game Drives, Boat Cruise & Nocturnal Safari

Fuel up with breakfast before heading out at 7:30 AM for a full-day safari. Traverse the park’s varied landscapes—from open plains to swampy lakeshores—as you search for lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, and buffalo. Along the way, spot giraffes, antelopes, zebras, and Akagera’s impressive birdlife, including the elusive shoebill.

In the afternoon, glide across Lake Ihema on a peaceful boat safari. Watch for hippos, crocodiles, and birds like the African fish eagle soaring overhead.

As dusk settles, switch gears for a night game drive—an opportunity to see the park’s more elusive nocturnal animals like bush babies, civets, and hyenas. Return to the lodge for dinner and a well-earned rest under the stars.

Day 3: Sunrise Safari & Return to Kigali

Start your final day with a short morning drive through the park’s quieter areas. It’s your last chance to track wildlife and soak in the golden hues of Akagera at dawn.

Afterward, begin your journey back to Kigali, arriving by afternoon. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel, the airport, or your preferred location in the city—ending your Rwandan adventure on a high note.
